Congratulations to our Mustangs as they wrapped up the track season this past Saturday! Our state qualifiers — Emma Peterson, Ashlyn Binge, Tuff Rood, Gabe Kauffman, Josh Arganbright, and James Rodriguez — achieved the remarkable feat of qualifying for the MHSAA Division 4 State Finals and left everything they had on the track. In addition to qualifying, our athletes walked away with several outstanding accomplishments: Ashlyn Binge placed seventh in the pole vault, earning All-State honors with a vault of 9'3". James Rodriguez became State Champion in the 100m dash with a time of 10.81. He also earned state runner-up honors in the long jump with a jump of 22'7.75" and earned All-State honors with a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash. As a sophomore, James became Montabella’s first individual male state champion in more than 20 years, following Dave Messer’s 400m championship in 2004. He also broke two school records this season — both more than 45 years old — and now holds the school records in the 100m dash (10.79) and long jump (22'7.75"). If you see these athletes, please congratulate them on their outstanding achievements this season!
